Monitoring and optimization IT INFRASTRUCTURE.

Nowadays, business greatly depends on infrastructure. Problems of IT infrastructure efficiency impact directly on business, making a significant impact on profit and profitability of the business as a whole. However, paradoxically, the issue of performance IT infrastructure has been neglected, not taken into account the possible risks. This neglect may be caused by the fact that IT infrastructure for any business does not create value in itself, but is merely a sphere of applications that implement business processes.

Over the pass few years, the concept of "IT infrastructure" significantly expanded to include the full range of infrastructure equipment and applications: server hardware, storage systems, engineering equipment, database and other application software. They also include various processes and resources for servicing: planning, procurement, installation, administration, security, updates, backups, and so on. The basic criterion for the quality of the IT infrastructure is an indicator of the readiness of IT services provided. In this case, assessed working infrastructure and applications not as a separate independent element, but as a functioning multilevel distributed environment that provides implementation of business processes.

Typically, the architecture(landscape) of IT infrastructure of most companies is based by a principle of "star." The Center for this architecture is the data center, which also includes a server component of all corporate distributed applications such as SAP, Oracle Applications, Microsoft Applications and so on. The finite elements here are the branches created by the standard design (ideally). Possible geographical remoteness of branches companies in time zone leads to the stringent requirements for operation of IT infrastructure: willing to work at least 99,5% in 24x7x365 operation mode (i.e. idle, not more than 11 hours a quarter).

Providing these stringent requirements is not possible without implement an integrated approach, which includes both quality monitoring system to provide IT services, and the organization and further automation of the maintenance processes.

IT system monitoring

Control and monitoring of IT services enables automated management of applications and services that are provided by the resources of IT infrastructure. Additionally, possible monitoring the state of engineering systems in real-time, operation control of equipment, access to information. Thus all management functions can be accessed from a single user interface.

Installation of the system is also needed for automatic maintenance of optimal modes of hardware and operational prevent of failures. Centralized monitoring systems can reduce the breaks in the implementation of IT services (such as routine maintenance hardware), and in some cases provide uninterrupted performance.
